Job summary

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) seeks a Senior Staff Engineer in Wall, NJ for the Structural Department. You will perform design and analysis for multiple structural systems, prepare calculations and drawings, and coordinate with internal disciplines.

The role requires a Civil Engineering degree with structural focus, 2–4 years of experience, and an EIT certification or ability to obtain soon after hire. Travel for site inspections in NJ/NY is expected.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus.
  • 2–4 years of structural design experience, preferably in consulting.
  • EIT certification required or obtainable soon after hire.
  • Working knowledge of RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000 or similar.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred.
  • Familiarity with IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, ACI and other codes.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Willingness to travel for inspections in NJ and NY.

  • Support PMs with scheduling, coordination and deliverables.
  • Ensure designs meet codes and industry standards.
  • Participate in internal design reviews and QC processes.

Job description

French & Parrello Associates (FPA) is seeking a Senior Staff Engineer for our Structural Department in Wall, NJ.

Responsibilities
  • Perform structural analysis and design for building systems including steel, concrete, masonry, and wood structures.
  • Prepare structural calculations, technical reports, and supporting design documentation.
  • Assist with the preparation of construction documents including drawings, specifications, and details.
  • Coordinate structural design with other internal disciplines including civil, mechanical, electrical, and architecture.
  • Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs during construction.
  • Assist with field observations and site visits to evaluate existing structures and construction progress.
  • Support project managers with scheduling, coordination, and technical deliverables.
  • Ensure designs meet applicable building codes, standards, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in internal design reviews and quality control processes.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus or Structural Engineering.
  • 2–4 years of structural design experience, preferably within a consulting engineering environment.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification required or ability to obtain shortly after hire.
  • Working knowledge of structural design software such as RAM, RISA, ETABS, SAP2000, or similar analysis programs.
  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or Revit preferred.

Compensation

The projected compensation range for this position is $75,000 to $90,000. Actual compensation will depend on factors such as experience, education and skill set.
