Job summary

HDR in Indianapolis seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to join Building Engineering Services. The role focuses on leading structural design for critical facilities, coordinating teams, and maintaining high-quality engineering standards within a collaborative, employee-owned culture.

The candidate will mentor regional staff, engage with clients, and contribute to project planning and development across diverse markets including data centers and healthcare facilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering
• At least 10 years structural engineering experience related to building design
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required
• MS Office, AutoCAD, RAM, ETABS, SAFE or similar analytical software
• Ability to design and detail in steel, concrete, masonry and wood
• Understanding of gravity and lateral analysis
• Experience in an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
• Commitment to employee-owned culture

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the structural design teams through design development and contract document phases
• Provide mentorship to structural colleagues in the region
• Serve as a technical expert in structural engineering for projects
• Perform QC reviews of design submissions
• Participate in multi-disciplinary coordination meetings and project planning
• Coordinate workload with program leadership and other disciplines

Education

Bachelor's degree in Civil or Structural Engineering

Master's degree in Structural Engineering or Architectural Engineering with Structural emphasis
