Job summary

Collins Engineers, Inc. is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Richmond, Virginia office. The role combines structural design with inspection work on transportation structures, waterfront facilities, and related projects.

The successful candidate will lead projects, supervise staff, and collaborate with Project Managers and clients to meet engineering standards and project goals. PE or SE licensure is required, with 10+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and/or master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited four-year university.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in project engineering.
• Experience in inspection and/or design of bridges, roadways, railroads, marinas, and ports.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) and/or Structural Engineer (S.E.) licensure required.
• Relocation to Richmond, VA may be required.

Responsibilities

• Provide independent technical leadership on engineering matters pertaining to their area of expertise.
• Offer technical expertise to Project Managers, engineers and/or clients to ensure projects meet standards and design instructions.
• Review, analyze, and resolve field and/or design issues.
• Lead complex engineering computations and act as the technical specialist on varied projects.
• Coordinate project phases, schedules, and staffing; supervise project staff.
• Assist in client relations, proposal preparation, and cost estimation.
• Promote safety and ensure staff training as needed.
