Job summary

WSP Group in Chicago, IL is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to join our Bridge Structures Team. You will contribute to design, analysis, and construction support for load-bearing elements and transportation facilities, delivering safe, sustainable, and code-compliant solutions for public sector projects.

The role requires a Bachelor’s Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering, 5–7 years of relevant experience, and an Illinois SE license or eligibility within one year.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering or closely related discipline.
• 5–7 years of relevant post-education experience in engineering.
• Illinois SE license or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• Proficient knowledge of structural engineering principles and design/build processes.
• Experience with infrastructure planning, design, and construction management.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering techniques on assignments for structural elements under supervision.
• Review submittals and shop drawings.
• Prepare design calculations for projects.
• Prepare load ratings.
• Perform project-specific analyses.
• Prepare plans, specifications, estimates, and memos.
• Coordinate with team and other disciplines to support client needs.
• Mentor entry-level engineers and provide QA/QC guidance.
