Placements24 in Queenstown, Eastern Cape seeks an experienced Structural Engineer to lead design, analysis, and supervision of bridges, highways, and transportation structures. Office-based with regular site visits to monitor construction and provide on-site engineering support.

The ideal candidate holds a Civil Engineering degree with Structural specialization, Pr.Eng registration with ECSA, 9+ years of relevant experience, and proficiency in SAP2000, CSI Bridge, STAAD.Pro, and CAD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural focus.
• Pr.Eng registration with ECSA required.
• 9+ years of relevant structural design/analysis experience.
• Experience with SAP2000, CSI Bridge, STAAD.Pro and CAD tools.
• Knowledge of bridge design codes (AASHTO, EN, SANRAL) and materials.
• Strong construction method understanding and site supervision.
• Excellent problem solving, communication, and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform structural analysis and design for bridges, overpasses, culverts and highways.
• Prepare detailed drawings, calculations, and construction specs.
• Conduct assessments and condition surveys of existing structures.
• Oversee construction phases ensuring design adherence and safety.
• Collaborate with managers, contractors, and agencies across projects.
• Review shop drawings, submittals and construction methods.
• Develop innovative design solutions for complex challenges.
• Ensure SANRAL specifications and codes are met on projects.
• Mentor junior engineers and design teams.
• Travel to Eastern Cape project sites as required.
