Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or Architectural Engineering; Master’s degree a plus.
• PE or SE license required with 6–10 years in structural design.

• Proficiency in RAM, ETABS, RISA, AutoCAD and REVIT required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quality control reviews of calculations and drawings to ensure standards.
• Perform field reviews for projects under construction.
• Contribute to construction administration including submittals and RFIs.
• Support project financials by efficient staffing and resource use.
• Lead and coordinate among structural engineers, drafters and staff.
• Develop structural analyses and drawings for assigned projects.
• Communicate with clients and consultants to define project requirements.

Job description

DHA is seeking a senior structural engineer in the structural department who will work on high visibility and interesting structural engineering projects along with special assignments. The qualified candidate will have at least 6 to 10 years of relevant experience in a structural engineering consulting role. The candidate will have experience working on office, commercial, healthcare, sports, community, residential, and mixed-use projects. The qualified candidate should be self-motivated individual who can work within a team and serve clients on projects. You would be joining a company that supports community service, involvement in professional organization and professional development. Limited work from home schedule is offered for this position. This position will report to the Structural Group manager in the Silver Spring, Md office.

Responsibilities

• Conduct quality control reviews to ensure design calculations and structural drawings are complete, coordinated, follow the office’s standards and have a high level of quality.
• Perform field review for projects under construction and surveys of existing structures.
• Contribute to the construction administration duties such as reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs.
• Project financial success, including efficient utilization of staff and resources.
• Effective delegation and direction to structural engineers, Revit operators and administrative staff.
• Contribute to the analysis and design calculations as well as the structural drawings for assigned projects.
• Communicate with clients and consultants to understand project requirements.
• Networking, including active participation in and leadership of professional organizations
• Reading and developing contract plans and specifications
• Preforming construction administration duties such as reviewing submittals and responding to RFIs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil or architectural Engineering (with focus on structures) from an accredited university. Master’s degree a plus.
• PE or SE license required. years of relevant experience in structural design of commercial, institutional, residential or infrastructure projects using concrete, steel and wood required.
• 6 to 10 years of experience should include structural design of new buildings, renovations, and additions.
• Candidate shall have a working knowledge and clear understanding of structural engineering principles.
• Knowledge of appropriate structural engineering design software required (e.g., RAM, ETABS, RISA, etc.)
• Working knowledge of AutoCAD and REVIT is required.
• Excellent written, oral, and verbal communication skills required.
• Highly motivated and responsible individual with strong work ethic.
• Candidate must be willing to learn and comfortable working in a team.
