Job Title: Structural Engineer

Job Description

This Structural Engineer role focuses on structural building design for a wide range of projects, including residential communities, office buildings, educational and medical facilities, and parking garages. You will prepare complete construction drawing sets for permit submittals and collaborate closely with other disciplines while using industry-standard structural design and drafting software. Responsibilities
  • Prepare full sets of structural construction drawings, typically ranging from 5 to 50 sheets, for permit submittals.
  • Perform structural design and analysis for buildings and related structures across residential, commercial, educational, medical, and parking facility projects.
  • Use structural design software such as RAM, RISA, Staad, Multiframe, Tedds, and Enercalc to develop and verify structural calculations.
  • Create and modify structural drawings and details using AutoCAD and/or Revit in coordination with project requirements.
  • Coordinate design work with other disciplines and skill sets to ensure complete, accurate, and integrated construction documents.
  • Review drawings, calculations, and project documents for accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable codes and standards.
  • Support the preparation of documentation required for permit applications and respond to comments or questions related to structural design.
  • Collaborate with project team members throughout the design process to meet project schedules and quality expectations.
  • Contribute to a positive team environment by communicating clearly, sharing information, and supporting continuous improvement in design practices.
Essential Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Architectural Engineering with an emphasis on Structural Design.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in structural engineering or structural building design.
  • Proficiency in structural design and engineering principles applied to building projects.
  • Experience preparing structural construction drawings for building projects.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit for structural drafting and modeling.
  • Experience using structural software packages such as RAM, RISA, Staad, Multiframe, Tedds, and Enercalc.
  • Ability to coordinate effectively with other disciplines and project stakeholders.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to produce accurate, code‑compliant calculations and drawings.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • EIT or Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
  • Experience working on a variety of project types, including residential, commercial, educational, medical, and parking structures.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects while meeting deadlines.
  • Interest in long‑term career growth within a stable, family‑owned organization.
  • Willingness to learn and adapt to new structural software tools and design methods as needed.

Work Environment

This is an in-office position based in Maryland, working on‑site five days per week. The company offers flexible start and finish times to support individuals with family obligations. You will work in a collaborative office environment using tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, RAM, RISA, Staad, Multiframe, Tedds, and Enercalc to deliver structural designs.   • Pay range: $75,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year.
