Job summary

Aperture LLC is seeking a Sr. Structural Engineer to lead forensic investigations of building structures, manage multi-disciplined teams, and deliver analyses and remedial designs for complex cases across the United States.

The ideal candidate holds an ABET-accredited degree, 10+ years of Civil/Structural experience, a PE license, and proven court testimony ability, with strong technical writing and client management skills.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
• Proven experience with at least 10 years in the field.
• PE license required; NCEES record required.

Responsibilities

• Lead forensic analysis of building structures.

Salary: $160,000 - $220,000

Requirements

• Advanced degree in Civil or Structural Engineering required from an ABET-accredited university.
• A minimum of 10 years of experience
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license is required
• NCEES record is required
• Experience working within the continental United States
• Must have experience testifying in court
• Proficient technical writing ability
• Ability to perform field visits to existing buildings, construction sites and post-disaster environments
• Proven experience in building envelopes for both existing and new buildings.
• Must have experience with BlueBeam and Microsoft office software

Description

The ideal candidate will have engineering, leadership skills, and client management expertise to lead a team -managing investigations, performing forensic analysis, and remedial design. In addition, the candidate must have an ability to effectively manage multiple projects, monitor scopes of service, and maintain corresponding budgets. Must possess excellent communication skills to articulate technical issues to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Licensed P.E. in Massachusetts and/or Florida, with the ability to easily obtain additional states. Possession of NCEES Record is required or will be required for continued employment.

Responsibilities

• Conduct forensic analysis of building structures.

• Analyze building problems and execute field investigations.

Client Relationships And Business Development

• Build and maintain strong relationships with clients.
• Support marketing and sales efforts

Building Investigations And Remedial Repairs

• Design structures, both small and large.
• Work independently and in a team setting to perform building investigations, prepare and present written and oral reports.
• Lead a multi-disciplined team in the design process, ensuring project success.
• Design remedial repairs for existing buildings.

Technical Proficiency

• Demonstrate expertise in structural analysis and design.
• Prepare drawings and review submittals, ensuring construction quality.
• Prepare well-written, compelling reports.
• Understand and apply the Structural Engineer's standard of care.
• Must have experience with Bluebeam and Microsoft Suite software.

Specialized Knowledge

• Experience as the engineer of record professional for buildings.
• Familiarity with soil-structure interaction and structural dynamics.
• Proficiency in using structural analysis and design software.

Physical Requirements

• The ability to sit at a desk up to 80% of the time
• The ability to stand and walk up to 20% of the time
• The ability to be confined in a small area, such as a cubicle
• The ability to work from heights during inspections (from ladders/lifts)
• The ability to operate phones and computers
• The ability to travel via airplanes as needed
