Job summary
Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking an experienced Structural Designer SR 2 for a two-year contract in the Birmingham, AL area. The role involves producing 3D models and drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and ductwork, coordinating with disciplines and vendors, and performing field verifications for constructability.
Ideal candidates bring 20+ years of heavy industrial/power plant experience, proficiency in AutoCAD 3D, and familiarity with Bentley/Microsoft tools or Advance
Qualifications
- 20+ years experience in heavy industrial/power plant projects.
- Proficient 3D modeling using AutoCAD.
- Experience with Bentley/Microsoft and/or Advance Steel.
- Steel and concrete detailing background.
- Strong technical writing and ability to produce clear drawing notes.
- Able to work well in teams or independently.
- Ability to perform site walk-downs for field verification and constructability.
Responsibilities
- Producing 3D models and design drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and/or ductwork.
- Preparing layouts and conceptual designs.
- Reviewing vendor shop fabrication drawings.
- Preparing material takeoffs and assist with cost estimates.
- Coordinating work with other disciplines, clients, and contractors.
- Performing site walk-downs for field verification and to address constructability.
