Job summary

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is seeking an experienced Structural Designer SR 2 for a two-year contract in the Birmingham, AL area. The role involves producing 3D models and drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and ductwork, coordinating with disciplines and vendors, and performing field verifications for constructability.

Ideal candidates bring 20+ years of heavy industrial/power plant experience, proficiency in AutoCAD 3D, and familiarity with Bentley/Microsoft tools or Advance

Qualifications

• 20+ years experience in heavy industrial/power plant projects.
• Proficient 3D modeling using AutoCAD.
• Experience with Bentley/Microsoft and/or Advance Steel.
• Steel and concrete detailing background.
• Strong technical writing and ability to produce clear drawing notes.
• Able to work well in teams or independently.
• Ability to perform site walk-downs for field verification and constructability.

Responsibilities

Johnson Service Group (JSG) is a nationally recognized professional staffing and recruiting firm that is looking for an experienced Structural Designer SR 2 to fill a two-year contract assignment in the Birmingham, AL area.

This position may require some bending, lifting, climbing, prolonged sitting, prolonged walking, walking on gravel or crawling when necessary.

Requirements: Experience: 20+ years heavy industrial/power plant experience.

Estimated Start Date: 10/5/2026

Estimated Duration of Job Assignment: 08/25/2028

Job Responsibilities

• Producing 3D models and design drawings for structural steel, reinforced concrete, and/or ductwork.

Skillsets and Expertise
