Job summary

Garg Consulting Services, Inc. in CT/NY/NJ seeks a Senior Structural Designer to lead bridge and transportation infrastructure design and analysis. You will prepare contracts, calculations and specifications, and coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and regulators.

Strong writing and communication are essential. qualifications include a civil/structural engineering degree, EIT with PE preferred, and 5–10 years in structural design, including bridges.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil or structural engineering.
• EIT certification required; PE license strongly preferred.
• 5–10 years of structural design experience, including bridge design.
• Proficiency with SAP2000, STAAD, CSiBridge and CAD tools.
• Experience with CTDOT/NJDOT/NYSDOT design standards preferred.
• Knowledge of AASHTO, AREMA and other codes; strong writing and communication.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and analysis of structural components for bridges and infrastructure.
• Conduct load rating analyses and structural evaluations.
• Prepare drawings, specs and detailed engineering calculations.
• Perform site inspections for new and rehabilitative design.

Founded in 1990, Garg is a multi-disciplinary engineering firm specializing in railroad and transit projects. Headquartered in Rocky Hill, CT with an office in Princeton, NJ, Garg currently employs over 100 employees, mainly working on federal and state projects including some of the most high-profile transportation projects in Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, and Pennsylvania.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design and analysis of structural components and systems for bridges and transportation infrastructure

Required Qualifications

• Proficiency with structural analysis software (e.g., SAP2000, STAAD, CSiBridge) and CAD platforms (AutoCAD, MicroStation)
• Experience with CTDOT, NJDOT, or NYSDOT design standards preferred
• Strong knowledge of AASHTO, AREMA, and other applicable codes
• Excellent technical writing, communication, and organizational skills
• Demonstrated ability to produce high-quality, detailed, and code-compliant work
