Job summary

Rondo Energy is seeking an experienced Structural Design Engineer to lead the structural design of large‑scale Heat Battery hardware. You will work within the Product Engineering organization to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and cost‑effectiveness while advancing decarbonization goals.

The role emphasizes cross‑functional collaboration with mechanical, electrical, process, and supply‑chain teams, plus on‑site collaboration in Alameda, CA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with structures specialization.
• 5+ years of experience designing metal structures and systems (including connection design) in industrial applications.
• Strong working knowledge of AISI, AISC specifications, and ASCE 7.
• Experience in seismic analysis and design of steel structures and anchorage in seismic regions.
• Experience with cast‑in‑place and post‑installed anchorage systems in concrete.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop structural assemblies for heat batteries, including enclosures and air‑management components.
• Perform structural analysis per applicable codes and develop validation plans.
• Apply FEA to verify performance and optimize design parameters.
• Produce detailed design documentation and fabrication‑ready CAD models.
• Coordinate with internal teams and external partners on design and construction.
• Serve as point of contact for structural engineering RFIs.
• Support prototyping and testing for cost‑effective solutions.
