Job summary
The Broward County Building Division is seeking a qualified Chief Structural Inspector to assist the Building Official in administering permitting, plan review, and enforcement in compliance with the Florida Building Code. You will interpret codes, supervise inspectors, maintain records, and coordinate with boards on appeals.
Qualifications include high school or GED, BORA certification as Standard Plans Examiner and Standard Inspector or licensure as a Florida Architect or Professional
Qualifications
- Must meet Chief Structural Inspector qualifications per BORA/BCAIB.
- Certification as Standard Plans Examiner and Standard Inspector or licensure as architect/engineer in Florida required.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain records and database for inspections.
- Interpret Building Code and related ordinances and advise steps toward compliance.
- Review plans and supervise workload/performance of subordinate inspectors.
- Maintain contact with Broward County Board of Rules and Appeals regarding code violations and appeals.
- Perform other related work as required.
- Assist in Building Safety Inspection Program (BSIP).
- Assist in planning, coordination, and supervision of Building Division policies, programs, and operations.
