LJB Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Bridge Engineer for our Raleigh, North Carolina office.

The role focuses on delivering transportation infrastructure projects with a senior leadership approach, mentoring junior staff, and coordinating with DOT and client teams. You will design bridges from concept through final plans, develop cost estimates, and oversee bid packages while participating in leadership within transportation professional organizations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis.
• PE license required.
• 10+ years of bridge/culvert design experience.
• DOT bridge design experience and knowledge of DOT guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design tasks for bridge projects from preliminary to final design.
• Develop specifications, cost estimates, and final bid packages.
• Coordinate with client staff and project managers, especially DOT/local govts.
• Provide design services for design-bid-build and design-build projects.
• Mentor junior engineers on final design plans.
• Coordinate design activities among staff, subcontractors, and clients.
• Participate in project decisions on technical approaches, cost, schedule.
• Identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
• Lead and participate in transportation-related professional organizations.
