Job summary

LJB Inc. in Charlotte, North Carolina is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Bridge Engineer to support and grow our Transportation Practice in the Charlotte office. Salary range is $128,000 – 185,000 based on experience, certifications, and regional market standards.

This role requires a Civil Engineering degree with structural emphasis, a P.E. license, and 10+ years of bridge design experience, with strong DOT collaboration and project leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering with a structural emphasis is required.
• P.E. license and 10+ years of bridge/culvert design experience.
• DOT bridge design experience and familiarity with DOT guidelines.
• Knowledge of AASHTO LRFD and related standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering design tasks for bridge projects from preliminary to final design.
• Develop specifications, cost estimates, and prepare final bid packages.
• Have established working relationships with client staff and project managers, especially in DOT and local governments.
• Provide design services for traditional design-bid-build and design-build bridge projects.
• Mentor and assist junior engineers in developing final design plans.
• Coordinate design activities and meetings between design staff, subcontractors, and client managers.
• Participate in project decisions regarding technical approaches, cost and scheduling performance.
• Identify schedule and cost variances and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to projects within schedule and budget with multidisciplinary teams.
• Lead and participate in transportation-related professional organizations such as ASHE, ASCE, NCSEA.
