Job summary

Actalent is seeking a Structural Analysis Engineer in Alachua, FL to lead advanced FEA for heavy mobile equipment and large fabricated structures. You will validate designs with physical testing, mentor junior engineers, and drive best practices across engineering teams.

The role requires strong ANSYS experience, CAD proficiency with Siemens NX, and collaboration with manufacturing, purchasing, and quality teams. A Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and 3+ years of related work are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of structural FEA and design validation experience, preferably on heavy equipment.
• Strong understanding of mechanics of materials and structural engineering principles.
• Experience with welded and fabricated structures and heavy equipment design.
• Hands-on FEA experience with ANSYS for various analyses.
• Ability to interpret FEA/test results and translate into design improvements.
• Experience with strain gauge application, testing methods, instrumentation, and data analysis.
• Proficiency with CAD, preferably Siemens NX, for mechanical/structural design.

Responsibilities

• Perform advanced FEA analyses (linear, nonlinear, static, dynamic, modal).
• Develop engineering reports documenting methods, assumptions, boundary conditions, results and recommendations.
• Review FEA work for accuracy and adherence to best practices.
• Evaluate performance and recommend design improvements for reliability and manufacturability.
• Plan and execute design validation activities including strain gauge setup and data correlation.
• Carry out calculations related to mechanics of materials and welded structures.
• Maintain and improve structural design standards and procedures.
• Lead design reviews and mentor junior engineers.
