Job summary

Abbott is seeking a Capital Projects, Sr. Project Engineer to lead engineering efforts across multiple locations, directing projects of major scope and importance while coordinating internal and external resources to meet budget and schedule targets.

You will develop project charters, document requirements, apply PM tools, manage risk, and guide execution from planning through closeout to deliver value for customers and the business.

Responsibilities

• Develops, plans, coordinates and directs engineering aspects of projects across multiple locations that are of major scope and importance.
• Manages multiple, often concurrent projects and meets expectations; makes priorities among projects.
• Understands business needs and defines project scope; develops project charter and requirements.
• Uses PM tools and techniques to stay within budget and achieve objectives.
• Develops project plans and aligns strategy with customer objectives; contributes to long-term plans.
• Directs and manages project execution to achieve objectives.
• Closes projects by finalizing activities across PM process groups.
• Defines roles and responsibilities; directs internal and external resources.
• Monitors and controls project work to optimize resource utilization and cost/milestones.
• Reviews change requests and manages changes to deliverables and documents.
• Coordinates with purchasing for procurement and contracting; leverages suppliers.
• Implements project management best practices and mitigates risks with fallback strategies.
• Acts as a Subject Matter Expert in project engineering and participates in cross-divisional teams.
• Writes requests for capital expenditures and safety/quality checklists.
• Anticipates and resolves problems requiring fast decisions and rapid implementation.
