Job summary

Howard University is seeking a Senior Budget Officer to manage portions of the university's operating budget. The role strengthens the relationship between the Budget Office and schools and accountable units, supporting budget development, monitoring, analysis, forecasts, and strategic decisions.

The incumbent will assist senior leadership and key constituents in financial procedures, Workday budgeting, and ensuring alignment with university goals.

Qualifications

• Experience preparing operating budgets based on actual performance and forecasts.
• Ability to analyze expenditures vs budget allocations.
• Proficiency with Workday for budget processes.

Responsibilities

• Consult with units or departments and coordinate operating budgets.
• Compare expenditures with budget allocations and make recommendations.
• Collaborate with leadership on budget development and forecasting.
• Monitor revenue and expense accounts to identify variances.
• Develop budget training content and related Workday procedures.
• Participate in the annual budget model development and reporting.
