Howard University School of Law is seeking a Budget Director to support the annual operating budget lifecycle. The role involves analyzing costs across programs, presenting recommendations to align with institutional goals, and leveraging Workday/Adaptive for budgeting activities.

The ideal candidate has strong budgeting principles knowledge, financial analysis skills, and experience with financial software.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of budgeting/financial analysis experience.
• Experience in higher education preferred.
• Proficiency in Workday/Adaptive.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist in creation, preparation, and presentation of the annual operating budget.
• Conduct comparative cost analysis to identify variances and cost-saving opportunities.
• Prepare and present budget vs. actual reports and monitor expenditures.
• Analyze program costs and provide data-driven recommendations for efficiency.
• Utilize Workday/Adaptive to maintain budget data and generate reports.
• Collaborate with department heads and senior leadership to meet budget goals.
