Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Engineer to lead stormwater, CSO, LTCP and flood risk services across New Jersey and Eastern Pennsylvania. You will shape project delivery, drive growth, and act as a technical leader for complex hydraulic analyses and multi‑agency permitting.

The role requires deep H&H expertise, PE licensure in NJ, and a track record of delivering large urban flood mitigation programs. Hybrid work and collaboration with municipal and utility clients are emphasized.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) (NJ required, NY or PA preferred).
• Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) strongly preferred.
• 15+ years of experience in stormwater, drainage, CSO and flood risk engineering.
• Advanced experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling across complex systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of stormwater, flood control, and drainage projects across NJ and PA.
• Oversee modeling using HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, XP-SWMM, InfoWorks, SWMM.
• Lead permitting and regulatory coordination with NJDEP, FEMA, USACE, and local authorities.
• Mentor staff and support business development and project growth.
