Job summary

AECOM seeks a Senior Stormwater Engineer / Team Lead to guide water resources projects in Arlington, VA or Herndon, VA. Lead diverse teams in municipal, state, and federal stormwater programs, driving design, planning, and green infrastructure solutions.

The role demands an active Virginia PE license, strong leadership, client engagement, and the ability to deliver high-quality drawings and proposals. Hybrid work with local travel within VA is expected.

Qualifications

• BA/BS in Civil, Environmental, or related engineering +6 years of experience or equivalent
• Virginia PE license or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, Bluebeam or similar drafting tools
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License and ability to pass MVR
• US Citizenship required
• 2+ years of experience as a project manager

Responsibilities

• Lead a team of engineers and scientists to project success.
• Serve as project and technical manager for stormwater planning, design and implementation.
• Prepare and review project proposals and agreements.
• Create design and construction drawings for stormwater infrastructure.
• Provide technical direction and quality oversight on deliverables.
• Prepare, review, and seal design documents as a licensed professional engineer.
• Engage with clients and lead project communications.
• Develop and pursue Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina and US business opportunities.
• Mentor junior staff and participate in professional development.
• Represent AECOM at local/regional water resources activities and conferences.
• Travel locally within Virginia with potential out-of-area opportunities.
