Job summary

Fireworks seeks a seasoned storage and data-infrastructure engineer to design, build and operate a high-performance data layer spanning parallel file systems, object storage, caches and cloud storage for AI workloads. You will influence data placement, replication, and movement across clouds to keep training and inference pipelines flowing.

Qualifications include deep experience with distributed storage, consensus models, Kubernetes CSI, and performance tuning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
• 5+ years designing, building and operating storage, caching or data infrastructure at scale.
• Strong software development in C/C++, Rust or Go with performance-critical data path code.
• Python or Go for automation.
• Deep understanding of distributed storage: consistency, replication, metadata scaling, caching, failure recovery.
• Hands-on Kubernetes, including CSI, to mount high-performance volumes into GPU pods.
• Experience deploying storage clusters across clouds with IaC tools (Terraform, Pulumi).
• Proficiency with benchmarking tools (fio, iperf3, NCCL tests, perf, eBPF).

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate storage and data infrastructure for AI workloads.
• Optimize data placement, replication and movement across multi-cloud environments.
• Develop high-performance data paths and caching strategies for datasets and model weights.
• Collaborate with GPU teams to ensure low-latency data access and scalable I/O.
• Contribute to OS-level tuning and kernel I/O optimizations.
• Lead efforts on storage clustering and performance benchmarking.
