Job summary

Swift in Virginia is seeking a Storage Automation Engineer to develop and maintain automation tooling, integrations, and infrastructure services. You will join the Storage squad within the Platform Tribe, working with senior engineers, security and operations teams to build reliable, secure automation.

The ideal candidate has a foundation in software development and scripting (Python, Bash, PowerShell, Go, JavaScript), plus 3–6 years of hands-on experience with Linux, APIs, DNS and CI/CD.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field
• Equivalent hands-on development, scripting, automation or infrastructure tooling experience will also be considered
• Foundational software development or scripting experience using Python, Bash, PowerShell, Go, JavaScript or a similar language; 3–6 years preferred
• Basic understanding of Linux, networking, DNS, APIs and infrastructure support concepts
• Experience creating scripts, automation workflows or small tools to solve operational problems
• Familiarity with Git, source control, CI/CD concepts, testing and code reviews
• Ability to read documentation and translate requirements into technical solutions
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills
• Interest in improving operational efficiency through automation

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain scripts, utilities and automation workflows to reduce manual effort
• Build and enhance internal tools, dashboards and reports for operations and incident response
• Collaborate with senior engineers to understand platforms and translate needs into automation
• Create integrations using APIs, command-line tools and web services
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, source control, testing and deployment processes
• Troubleshoot issues across Linux, APIs, networking and monitoring
• Automate routine tasks and maintain runbooks for automation
• Develop reusable code, templates and modules for repeatable operations
• Support monitoring and observability improvements with alerts and dashboards
• Collaborate with teams to deliver reliable, secure automation
