Job summary

HM Insurance Group, based in Washington, seeks an experienced underwriter leader to manage a block of stop-loss business. You will price renewals, analyze risk, and drive profit and growth across client blocks.

Collaborate with Sales, Clinical, and Underwriting teams to align pricing actions with financial targets while mentoring staff. Position emphasizes P/L ownership, client engagement, and strategic pricing actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience as required for the role.
• 6 years of experience in lieu of degree is acceptable.
• CEBS/HIA/MHP or SOA certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal business within an assigned block using rating manuals and clinical data.
• Collaborate with Sales, Underwriting and Clinical to implement pricing actions to meet targets.
• Train and coach junior staff to expand consultative best practices.
• Develop and expand Underwriting Guidelines and tools with market knowledge.
• Monitor block performance and report financial trends and strategies to improve results.
• Support Sales negotiations to renew or enroll new business.
