Job summary

HM Insurance Group (a Highmark Health subsidiary) seeks an experienced underwriter to price quotes and analyze group contracts based on claims experience and employee mix. The role ensures profitability and strategic alignment with HMIG policies, identifying quotes to decline when misfit.

You will analyze risk factors for enrollments, renewals and amendments, and prepare reports supporting pricing and financial activity.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a quantitative discipline is required.
6 years of progressive underwriting experience for self-funded and converting plans is required.

Responsibilities

Manage renewals and new business at profitable levels to meet HMIG targets.
Calculate rates and interpret pricing policy for various scenarios.
Identify questionable patterns in renewal client claims and advise on pricing.
Apply corporate risk management policies to pricing in unusual cases.
Ensure client compliance with risk management and enrollment criteria.
Recommend pricing adaptations to fit client-specific needs.
Analyze member risk and coordinate with internal teams to mitigate it.
Support initiatives such as fraud detection, compliance and wellness programs.
Complete renewals and quotes with timely accuracy.
Adapt to shifting market priorities and client requirements.
Communicate policy recommendations with clear rationale to clients and partners.
Influence sales and brokers on pricing and structuring quotes.
