Job summary

South Shore Hospital is seeking a Lead Pharmacy Technician to oversee the Sterile Products Area under the supervision of the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor and Operations Manager. You will lead a technical team and ensure ongoing training and competency across the shift.

You will drive quality, safety, and efficiency by coordinating yearly competencies, mentoring new staff, and ensuring sterile procedures meet USP-797 standards in a busy hospital setting.

Qualifications

• Ensures staff are trained in sterile compounding and held to high competency.
• Provides regular feedback, retraining or education when needed for IV room technicians.
• Manages training and competency documentation for supervisors review.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Sterile Products Area and coordinate staff on assigned shift.
• Coordinate yearly competencies for all sterile compounding staff.
• Ensure IV Room procedures follow USP-797 guidelines and suggest process improvements.
• Participate in safety and improvement teams related to sterile products.
• Oversee environmental sampling and document excursion events and follow-up actions.
• Provide mentorship and training to new employees and evaluate staff performance.
