Job Description:

The Senior level Statistical Data Analyst position focuses on generating impactful solutions for Research at Intermountain Health. This role collaborates closely with multiple research teams supporting clinical trials, investigator-initiated, and sponsored research. The analyst serves as the lead data support for research studies, including assessing study feasibility, defining statistical methods, drafting analytic plans, conducting analyses, and reporting results. They mentor junior team members, providing statistical and technical guidance and ensuring adherence to best practices. The analyst understands research methods, approaches, and requirements, facilitates meetings with stakeholders, and provides updates, sets priorities, and establishes deliverable timelines. They possess a deep understanding of clinical and operational data, consulting with Healthcare Data Advisors to ensure data integrity and accuracy. They drive insights through data exploration, advanced statistical testing, interpretation, report development, and visual storytelling.

This position is part of a highly skilled, impactful team with deep clinical and technical expertise in leveraging healthcare data to solve real-world problems. The team reports to senior analytics leaders and partners with key business and clinical leaders across Intermountain Healthcare. They provide ongoing training, maintenance, monitoring, and promotion of data applications and reports to maximize data insights and usage. The role contributes to developing and deploying world-class data analytics at Intermountain Healthcare, supporting our mission to help people live the healthiest lives possible.

Position Details:

This is a remote position, working Monday-Friday during regular business hours.

The Senior level Statistical Data Analyst will:

  1. Analyze and interpret data using statistical software (e.g., R, Python, SAS) and apply statistical methods (hypothesis testing, regression, correlation, parametric and non-parametric methods) to identify improvement opportunities.
  2. Recommend statistical methods, approaches, and designs to stakeholders, demonstrating a deep understanding of the data and supporting business/clinical operations, in partnership with analytic leadership.
  3. Provide expert customer service and deliver innovative, impactful analytics to delight business and clinical leaders.
  4. Mentor staff and team members, promote collaboration, contribute to statistical leadership, and pursue professional development through structured learning opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in an analytics-related field (statistics, mathematics, information systems, computer science, finance, business management, economics) with four years of relevant data analysis experience, or a related degree with six years of experience. Experience without a related degree will be considered if skills are robust.
  • Advanced SQL skills, knowledge of database design, data modeling, and standardized data structures.
  • Proficiency in creating visually appealing reports and dashboards (e.g., Cognos, Tableau).
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, internet, email, and scheduling applications.
  • Effective verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Subject matter expertise in healthcare or related data domains (Clinical Programs, Clinical Services, Compliance, etc.).
  • Lifelong learner with a collaborative approach.
  • Ability to thrive in scaled agile teams (SAFe) or similar practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience pulling data using SQL.
  • Experience validating datasets and analyzing data with R, Python, or SAS.

Physical Requirements:

Location: Intermountain Medical Center, Murray, Utah

Work Hours: 40 hours/week, Monday-Friday

Hourly Range: $43.49 - $68.48, dependent on experience
