Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an experienced Stage Responsible Engineer for the Gen 1.1 second stage of New Glenn. You will own the integrated stage from requirements through flight, directing trades, design releases, and hardware disposition on the factory floor.

Lead changes, coordinate with manufacturing and quality, and drive hardware on schedule toward launch. You will mentor junior engineers, maintain status reporting, and ensure alignment with broader New Glenn systems engineering and production

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or related field.
• 8+ years of experience with launch vehicles, spacecraft, or aircraft structures and stage hardware.
• Hands-on hardware experience on production or flight hardware.
• Strong understanding of structural design, metallic joints, buckling, fatigue, or fracture modes.
• Experience with cryogenic tanks, pressurized structures, or large welded assemblies.
• Ability to own hardware lifecycle from requirements through flight.
• Experience with manufacturing nonconformances and closure of discrepancies.
• CAD/PLM tools (Creo/Windchill) and GD&T proficiency.
• Systems engineering practices and mission/safety critical systems.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the single technical owner for Gen 1.1 second stage upgrades.
• Own stage-level engineering change through release and documentation.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain to move hardware toward launch.
• Maintain and report hardware status for stage activities.
• Support alignment of New Glenn engineering and production practices.
• Identify opportunities for design and process cost savings.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster cross-team collaboration.
• Present technical content to leadership and customers.
