Job summary

The Port Authority of NY & NJ is seeking a Senior Resident Engineer to manage Stage IV construction contracts at Journal Square Transportation Center in Jersey City, NJ. You will oversee day-to-day contractor activities, coordinate with facility operations, and administer contracts to ensure quality and safety.

You will supervise engineers and staff, monitor budgets and schedules, and report progress to senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Engineering or Architecture from an accredited college.
• CCM certification is required.
• Experience leading and supervising engineers and construction professionals.

Responsibilities

• Supervise staff of Engineers, Inspectors and Administrators to ensure high quality construction and manage REO staff costs to meet budgets.
• Ensure thorough field narratives, inspections, and reports are completed timely and per PA practices.
• Monitor contractor adherence to plans, specs and shop drawings; coordinate with Facility Operations and ensure safe construction.
• As Stage IV Construction Manager, oversee schedule, milestones and closeout; develop mitigation plans.
• Manage contract budgets, payments, extra work, change orders, net cost, and contractor claims.
• Report construction status to the Engineer of Construction and Construction Chiefs and executives as needed.
• Ensure WINTRAK is used and updated per CMD protocols.
• Review submittals, SAR approvals and RFIs; coordinate with other engineering divisions and PA groups.
• Follow CMD administrative procedures and mentor staff to meet business objectives.
