Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer (NRY 3) to join the Electrical Engineering Design unit at 4 World Trade Center. You will lead electrical design work, prepare constructible documents, and manage multi-disciplinary teams through capital projects and major work programs.

The role requires ABET‑accredited engineering credentials and 8+ years in electrical design, with strong knowledge of codes, field coordination, and cost estimating.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (ABET accredited).
• Eight+ years in professional electrical design for commercial/industrial facilities.
• Ability to lead, manage and prioritize multi-disciplinary assignments.
• Experience supervising professional and technical staff.
• Working knowledge of Local, State and Federal codes and standards.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Experience drafting contract drawings and cost estimates.
• Experience coordinating consultants and auditing progress.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Lead electrical design efforts including proposals, coordination, scheduling and briefing senior staff.
• Prepare preliminary and detailed estimates and design criteria for construction and alterations.
• Develop conceptual designs for capital projects and major work programs.
• Create biddable contract documents and cost estimates.
• Oversee design teams including consultants, engineers and CAD staff.
• Review materials, equipment, methods and standards for projects.
• Coordinate with facilities and departments on contract provisions.
• Respond to bidder questions and maintain contract integrity.
• Estimate material, labor and equipment needs and costs.
• Perform design analyses and economic studies; ensure safety and maintainability.
• Ensure coordination with other disciplines and external entities.
