Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking an experienced Manager of Structural Integrity within the Quality Assurance Division (QAD). You will oversee condition survey projects, review reports, and manage a team of task leaders across multiple facilities.

The role requires a Bachelor’s in Structural or Civil Engineering, 5+ years in inspections and project management, and familiarity with NJ/NYS FHWA rules and AASHTO codes.

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Five or more years of specific condition inspection and design experience of various types of structures.
• Experience in project management, engineering design and/or construction, including reports, scheduling and budgets.
• Familiarity with NYS/NJ FHWA requirements for biennial inspection of bridges and tunnels and AASHTO specs.
• Ability to respond to emergency structural situations and possess a valid driver’s license.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the response to Immediate Actions.
• Attend nighttime and/or weekend inspections as needed.
• Perform structural inspections of bridges, buildings, and retaining walls.
• Evaluate defects and safety concerns, and recommend repairs.
• Collaborate on budgets for Condition Surveys and approvals.
• Allocate projects to consultants and staff within Procurement guidelines.
• Develop RFPs and attachments for surveys and manage the process.
• Maintain the Structural Integrity Database (SID) and oversee data.
• Assist in staff and consultant management.
