Job summary

Samsung Austin Research and Development Center (SARC) and Advanced Computing Lab (ACL) seek a Senior Staff Physical Implementation CAD Engineer to shape physical design CAD flows for high-performance GPU and SoC designs at advanced nodes.

You will lead flow development, mentor engineers, and collaborate with DTCO teams and external vendors while pushing automation, scripting (Python, Tcl, Shell), and AI-assisted methods to improve predictability and efficiency.

Qualifications

• 11+ years in Physical Design CAD or 9+ years with a Master’s
• Hands-on experience with physical design CAD, methods, or design enablement for GPU/SoC programs
• Strong expertise in Physical Design flows: synthesis, place & route, timing, power, signoff

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve next-gen physical design flows for high-performance, power-efficient GPU/SoC designs.
• Lead flow triage, adapt methodologies to program needs, resolve implementation challenges with data-driven analysis.
• Champion automation and infrastructure development with scripting and tool integrations (Python, Tcl, shell).
• Collaborate with DTCO teams and external EDA vendors to evaluate emerging technologies for sub-5nm nodes.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster ownership, accountability, and innovation.
