Job summary

Tidewell Hospice, part of Empath Health, seeks a Senior Staff Nurse to provide compassionate, leadership-driven care Monday–Friday 8a–5p in Southwest Florida. You will mentor nursing staff, coordinate team functions, and focus on patient comfort and quality of life while supporting families with empathy and expertise.

Requirements include FL RN license, ADN, CPR, and 1+ year supervisory or hospice experience; valid driver’s license and transportation are required.

Qualifications

  • RN license in Florida (active)
  • ADN or equivalent from accredited program
  • CPR certification (American Red Cross or AHA)
  • IV Therapy certification preferred and to be obtained within 6 months
  • Minimum 1 year supervisory experience preferred
  • Hospice experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate nursing team functions and provide leadership to staff
  • Mentor and support Nursing staff and Hospice Aide staff
  • Assess patient/family needs and guide care to maximize comfort

Job description

Tidewell, a member of Empath Health is seeking a caring and motivated Senior Staff Nurse to work with us while providing exceptional care on the following Schedule: Monday-Friday 8a-5p. Since 1980, Tidewell Hospice has proudly served families across southwest Florida with compassionate, dignified care. As a member of Empath Health, we help patients with advanced illness live meaningfully while supporting their families with warmth, expertise, and respect.

What you'll Do

Provides support and leadership in coordinating team functions in collaboration with and support of the Care Team Manager, including Quality Assessment Performance improvements, supervisory visits and other activities as appropriate. An active, formal mentor and first line resource to the Nursing staff and a direct supervisor to the Hospice Aide staff on the Team, providing teaching, support and guidance. Utilizes assessment, intervention and teaching skills to maximize patient comfort and to enhance the quality of life to the patient/family unit. Responsible for identifying and coordinating patient/family needs and for guiding staff to provide preventative and supportive care to terminally ill patients/families.

What You'll Need

Education and/or Experience: Associate’s degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Valid Florida license as a Registered Nurse Vaild Florida State Driver’s License Certifications: Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association Current IV Therapy certification preferred. Must obtain the certification within six months of hire date. Strong preference for at least one (1) year supervisory experience. Strong preference for minimum of two (2) years Hospice experience. For field-based positions, employees must have reliable transportation which will enable them to perform tasks and responsibilities in a timely and appropriate fashion. Must provide proof of valid automobile insurance, a copy of which will be placed in the employee’s HR file.
