Job summary

Empath Health’s Tidewell Hospice in southwest Florida seeks an empathetic Hospice Aide to support patients per Plan of Care. You’ll perform personal care and report changes to the nurse, while maintaining dignity and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• Valid Florida Board of Nursing certification (CNA) is required.
• One to three years of training and/or experience in care settings.
• One year of experience in a long-term care facility is strongly preferred.

• Perform personal care and home maintenance activities per Plan of Care.
• Recognize and report unusual conditions to the patient’s nurse or supervisor.
• Maintain confidentiality and respect for patient and family at all times.

What you’ll Do

Supports and carries out the organization’s mission, vision, and values on a consistent basis. Performs only those personal care/home maintenance activities contained in a written assignment (Hospice Aide Plan of Care) by a health professional employee. Recognizes and reports unusual conditions, incidents or behavior of a patient and/or patient/family interaction to the patient’s nurse or supervisory nurse. Recognizes the role of the Hospice Aide and works within that scope of practice at all times. Maintains utmost respect for confidentiality in care of the patient/family.

What you’ll Need

• Valid Florida Board of Nursing certification (CNA License).
• Valid Florida State Driver’s License This is only required if colleague chooses driving herself/himself as mode of transportation when reassigned to work at another facility. This is not a requirement if the colleague chooses an alternative means of transportation when reassigned to another facility based on business needs. Regardless of the mode chosen, both are at the colleague’s own expense, with the exception of mileage reimbursement eligibility when traveling between facilities while on company time.
• One to Three Years of training and/or experience required.
• One year of experience in a long term care facility strongly preferred.
