Job summary

Partner Company is seeking a Senior Staff Machine Learning Engineer in the United States to lead the architecture and development of agentic AI systems that process global trade data for risk, compliance, and enforcement. You will own end-to-end ML platforms, from data ingestion to model inference, while mentoring senior engineers and shaping product strategy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• At least 10 years of experience building and deploying machine learning systems in production.
• Deep expertise in PyTorch and the modern Python ML ecosystem (Hugging Face, scikit-learn, NumPy, Pandas/Polars).
• Hands-on experience with production-grade LLM apps (RAG, tool calls, structured outputs).
• Proven experience deploying agentic systems in production with planning, tool use, and human-in-the-loop processes.
• Experience with SFT, DPO, RLHF, RLAIF, or reward modeling.
• Strong model evaluation capabilities, golden datasets, and LLM-as-a-judge pipelines.
• Senior Staff leadership, architecture direction, and cross-team mentoring.
• Excellent communication; able to influence across disciplines.
• Familiarity with AI guardrails and auditable systems for regulated domains.

Responsibilities

• Define technical vision, architecture, and roadmap for agentic AI systems handling global trade data.
• Lead scalable data pipelines for ingestion, document understanding, and model inference.
• Develop production-grade ML systems processing shipments, declarations, invoices, and docs.
• Advance LLM techniques with SFT, DPO, RLHF, and domain-specific evaluation.
• Establish evaluation frameworks, tracing, and feedback loops to monitor quality and recall.
• Design observability and monitoring for reliability and performance in production.
• Determine use of frontier APIs vs open-weight models based on cost and accuracy.
• Provide technical leadership and mentorship across engineering teams.
• Collaborate with product, data science, and customers to translate challenges into capabilities.
• Promote engineering excellence, maintainability, and knowledge sharing.
• Explore AI techniques to improve agent orchestration and document processing.
