Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC seeks a Senior Staff Software Engineer for Core Infrastructure in Bellevue, WA. You will own the architectural evolution of service mesh, compute platform, and infrastructure provisioning to accelerate multi-region expansion and reliability.

You will work on Kubernetes internals, Istio/Envoy integration, and Terraform tooling while driving cross-team architectural changes and delivering high-impact infrastructure improvements.

Qualifications

• Deep hands-on Kubernetes internals knowledge.
• Source-level Istio/Envoy experience including the xDS protocol.
• HTTP/2 and gRPC protocol understanding.
• Terraform at scale and multi-region provisioning.
• Go or Python for infra tooling; well-tested code.
• Ability to drive cross-functional architectural changes.

Responsibilities

• Own service mesh architecture end-to-end—standardize Istio/Envoy deployment and multi-region networking foundation.
• Drive Kubernetes compute platform evolution—define cluster lifecycle, scheduling, control plane, and resiliency.
• Redesign infrastructure provisioning—transform Terraform into scalable, self-service platform.
• Operate with source-level depth—debug Kubernetes API machinery, etcd, Envoy xDS, and Terraform provider layer.
• Define technical direction across teams—lead architecture reviews and cross-functional alignment.
