Job summary

BuildOps is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to architect, build, and optimize our full‑stack platform spanning React frontend and Node.js backend. You will drive technical excellence, mentor engineers, and shape best practices in a distributed team environment.

You will design APIs, optimize databases, and advance our design system with Material‑UI while ensuring observability and reliable performance. A strong emphasis on collaboration with product managers and customers is part of the role.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of software engineering experience with strong full‑stack JS/TS
• Deep expertise in React.js and scalable frontend architectures
• Strong backend development with Node.js, GraphQL (Apollo/Relay) and REST
• Proficiency with SQL databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL)
• Experience with performance optimization and event‑driven architecture
• Familiarity with containers and cloud infra (Docker, Kubernetes, AWS/GCP/Azure)
• Knowledge of Python for backend is a plus
• Experience with CI/CD and automated deployments
• Track record mentoring and coaching engineers

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain our full‑stack platform across frontend and backend
• Lead technical decisions for performance and maintainability
• Design, develop, and optimize APIs for frontend and third‑party integrations
• Improve database design and query optimization
• Enhance UI components using Material‑UI for a consistent UX
• Own full‑stack observability with logging, monitoring, and performance analysis
• Evaluate and adopt new technologies to drive innovation
• Collaborate with QA to ship high‑quality software
• Define testing strategies with Jest and React Testing Library
• Mentor engineers through reviews and pair programming
• Lead cross‑team technical initiatives
• Communicate effectively with engineers, PMs, customers, partners, and leaders
