Job summary

Shield AI, a defense-tech innovator, seeks a senior power systems engineer in the Seattle area to define and execute the Launch and Recovery Vehicle power system from concept through production. You will lead design, integration, and verification of high-power systems for harsh environments and guide a team of engineers in power electronics.

The role requires 10+ years, delivering market-ready power solutions, and strong proficiency with EE tools and simulations.

Qualifications

• Power system design experience on a large vehicle, aircraft, or an equivalent power system (rocket, satellite, submarine, etc.)
• 10+ years relevant experience
• Have delivered power system and power electronic products to market
• Proficient with electrical engineering development tools, simulation, and test equipment
• Strong technical fundamentals and analysis

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the vision of the Launch and Recovery Vehicle power system from concept to production
• Design, develop, and integrate high-power systems for reliability in harsh environments
• Guide teammates toward appropriate custom power electronic designs
• Enable an uninterruptible power system
• Make vs. buy trade studies; select, test, and integrate modules for use in the aircraft
• Ensure system performance and reliability via verification
• Debug complex problems related to electrical design, environmental, manufacturing
• Help build the team and lead multiple engineers dedicated to the power system design
• Drive cross-functional team to execute top-level architecture
• Provide mentorship, design review, and program execution leadership
• Work in a fast-paced environment

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

• Define and execute the vision of the Launch and Recovery Vehicle power system from concept to production. This includes power generation, regulation, distribution, power quality, control, etc.
• Design, develop, and integrate state-of-the-art high-power systems tailored for optimal performance and reliability in harsh environments
• Guide teammates toward appropriate custom power electronic designs
• Enable an uninterruptible power system
• Make vs. buy trade studies. Select, test, and integrate modules for use in the aircraft
• Ensure system performance and reliability are met through rigorous verification
• Debug complex problems related to the electrical design, environmental, manufacturing, etc.
• Help build the team and lead multiple engineers dedicated to the power system design
• Drive a cross-functional team to execute the top-level architecture
• Provide mentorship, design review, and program execution leadership
• Work in a fast-paced environment
