Job summary

Shield AI seeks an experienced engineer to design, develop, integrate, and field a next-generation autonomous aircraft power system. You will own power generation, regulation, distribution, and high‑power electronics, leading a team of engineers in a fast-paced environment to deliver reliable capability for operators.

• Power system design experience on large aircraft, or equivalent power system (rocket, satellite, submarine, etc.).
• 10+ years relevant experience.
• Have delivered power system and power electronic products to market.
• Proficient with electrical engineering development tools, simulation, and test equipment.
• Strong technical fundamentals and analysis.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute the vision of the aircraft power system from concept to production. This includes power generation, regulation, distribution, power quality, control, etc.
• Design, develop, and integrate state-of-the-art high-power systems tailored for optimal performance and reliability in harsh environments (high altitude, radiation, etc.)
• Design custom power electronics for high power and high voltage
• Design an uninterruptible power system with a high-capacity battery
• Make vs. buy trade studies. Select, test, and integrate modules for use in the aircraft
• Build a world class power electronics lab
• Ensure system performance and reliability are met through rigorous verification
• Debug complex problems related to the electrical design, environmental, manufacturing, etc.
• Build your team and lead multiple engineers dedicated to the power system design
• Drive a cross-functional team to execute the top-level architecture
• Provide mentorship, design review, and program execution leadership
• Work in a fast-paced environment

We are seeking a highly motivated engineer to support the design, development, integration, and fielding of a next-generation autonomous aircraft system. This position requires a balance of technical rigor, rapid decision-making, and hands‑on engineering to efficiently transition concepts into operational capability. The ideal candidate is comfortable solving complex problems, taking ownership, working within an accelerated aircraft development environment, and is motivated by getting meaningful capability into the hands of operators quickly.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

• Power system design experience on large aircraft, or an equivalent power system (rocket, satellite, submarine, etc.)

$216,000 - $325,000 a year

Full-time regular employee offer package:

Pay within range listed + Bonus + Benefits + Equity

Temporary employee offer package:

Pay within range listed above + temporary benefits package (applicable after 60 days of employment)

Salary compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licenses and certifications, and specific work location.
