Job summary

Corning Incorporated seeks a Sr. Staff Engineer to direct the technical roadmap for advanced measurement systems using optical metrology and machine vision.

You will engage senior stakeholders, architect robust solutions, and mentor engineers across functions to align measurement strategy with business goals. You will lead development of state-of-the-art techniques, ensure production-ready deployment, and help drive quality, yield, and profitability through innovative sensing and imaging

Qualifications

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in a related field; advanced degrees welcomed.
• 12+ years in optical metrology and/or machine vision for senior roles.
• Proven track record inventing or extending measurement tech.
• Hands-on experience with optical systems and imaging hardware.
• Strong Python and/or C# programming for algorithms and integration.
• Knowledge of HALCON, OpenCV, or LabVIEW and data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Set technical direction for measurement systems with optical metrology and machine vision.
• Develop and extend state-of-the-art measurement techniques.
• Deliver measurement systems and algorithms to improve quality and yield.
• Lead technology transfer from development to production in manufacturing.
• Coach engineers and contribute to IP through reports and filings.
