Corning Inc. in the Town of Poland, NY, seeks a Senior R&D Engineer for Optical Measurement Systems. In this role, you will own measurement challenges from defining problems to deploying solutions on the production floor.

The ideal candidate will have a Master's degree in a technical field, be self-driven, and possess a hands-on attitude, with fluency in Polish and strong English. Travel for projects may be required.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in optics, photonics, physics, mechanical engineering, mechatronics, electronics, or related.
• Self-driven mindset: comfortable with open-ended problems.
• Hands-on attitude: enjoy prototyping and working in the lab.
• Solid grounding in statistical analysis and structured problem-solving.
• Fluent Polish (mandatory) and strong English.
• Willingness to travel internationally.

Responsibilities

• Own measurement challenges end-to-end from problem definition to deployment.
• Design and build optical testing solutions for fiber optic components.
• Get hands-on in lab and floor work—building, wiring, aligning systems.
• Automate measurement workflows into reliable and repeatable systems.
• Lead experiments and root-cause investigations.
• Contribute to innovation portfolio with patents and presentations.
