Job summary

Headway Technologies in Milpitas, CA seeks a Sr. Member of Technical Staff to lead mechanical design and testing of HDD heads, focusing on HDI reliability and HAMR technology.

This role reports to the VP of Engineering and is based in Milpitas, California. Under the direction of the VP of Engineering, you will collaborate with design, wafer, and process teams to address thermo-mechanical design issues, validate designs on site, and present results to customers.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical Engineering, or Physics or equivalent
• Ten years of progressively challenging HDD industry experience
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Ability to travel internationally quarterly

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and testing of HDD heads for HDI programs
• Coordinate with wafer design, process teams, and back-end manufacturing
• Validate and test new designs on site with the testing team
• Present HDI program results to various customer groups
• Adhere to all safety policies and procedures
