Intone Inc. is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer for a remote contract position in the United States. You will lead an enterprise modernization program, driving migration from WebSphere to OpenShift/Kubernetes and Axway MFT replacements.

The role demands deep Java expertise, OpenShift/Kubernetes, and strong AWS and DevOps experience. You will own delivery plans, shape architecture, and mentor engineers across security, product, and operations teams.

Qualifications

10+ years of software engineering experience.
Technical Lead experience on enterprise production systems.
Deep Java expertise.
Experience migrating from IBM WebSphere or other Java EE platforms.
Strong OpenShift/Kubernetes experience.
AWS experience (S3, IAM, SQS/SNS, EventBridge, Lambda, etc.).
Managed File Transfer experience (Axway, MOVEit, IBM Sterling, GoAnywhere, or similar).
TypeScript/Node.js proficiency.
Kafka and/or IBM MQ experience.
REST and GraphQL API design and implementation.
PostgreSQL experience.
CI/CD and cloud-native architecture knowledge.
Experience leading large-scale migrations or platform retirement initiatives.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for an enterprise modernization program.
Lead WebSphere-to-OpenShift/Kubernetes migration efforts.
Lead Axway MFT replacement and file transfer modernization initiatives.
Design and support hybrid OpenShift and AWS solutions.
Own delivery plans, milestones, risk management, and cutover execution.
Drive resiliency, observability, incident response, and operational excellence.
Partner with architecture, product, security, infrastructure, and operations teams.
Mentor engineers and improve engineering standards across the program.
Ensure strong documentation, automation, and knowledge transfer.
