Job summary

Crusoe is building a globally distributed, high-performance storage platform for AI/HPC workloads. We seek a Senior Staff Software Engineer to own how the storage stack uses DPUs and hardware offload, taking responsibility for the control-plane and data-plane software across NVMe-oF, RDMA, and related protocols with the Storage Networking and Compute teams.

You’ll set technical direction for DPU/offload strategy, partner with hardware vendors, and craft monitoring, testing, and performance

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional software engineering, systems-level programming.
• Experience with production-grade DPUs/SmartNICs.
• Strong background in storage protocols and Linux subsystems.
• Experience with hardware-offload and kernel-bypass techniques.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement hardware offload for storage protocols (NVMe-oF, encryption, compression, checksums).
• Build and maintain control-plane integration with DPU-resident services.
• Collaborate with storage-networking and compute teams on RDMA/NVMe-oF fabric work.
• Evaluate vendor DPUs SDKs and frameworks (DOCA, BlueField SNAP).
• Build observability and testing for DPU-offloaded paths.
• Drive performance benchmarks (IOPS/throughput/latency).
• Serve as the storage team’s technical lead on DPU architecture decisions.
