Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC is seeking a senior staff engineer to own the architecture health of a billion-scale distributed system. You will drive designs, identify failure modes, and ensure resilience across 50+ deployments in a cloud-native environment.

You will work across Workflows, Conversations, and ticketing components, prototyping solutions and guiding cross-team fixes. You will contribute code and design docs to improve reliability at scale.

Qualifications

• Ten+ years of engineering experience with large-scale distributed systems.
• Ownership of production systems through real failures is essential.
• Deep knowledge of queueing, async architectures, and idempotency.
• Experience with multiple storage engines (SQL/NoSQL).
• Production Kubernetes experience at scale.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture health of a billion-scale distributed system including failure modes and capacity.
• Approve critical-path designs and take accountability for system soundness.
• Identify gaps, single points of failure and drive fixes before incidents.
• Prototype and ship remediation for hard architectural problems.
• Ensure resilience, backpressure, and isolation boundaries across systems.
• Mentor teams through reviews, post-mortems and architectural patterns.
• Set standards for safe AI-assisted engineering on critical systems.
