Job summary

Bloom Energy seeks a Sr. Staff Electrical Engineer to lead development, integration, and certification of utility‑interactive power conversion systems up to 6000 A, 480 Vac.

You will bridge power electronics, switchgear, controls, and safety teams, directing system design and validation for UL/IEEE/NEC standards. The role covers detailed electrical architecture, protection schemes, and certification activities tied to commercial and utility‑scale inverter systems, reporting to the Sr.

Qualifications

• BSEE with 6–10 years of relevant experience in power electronics and systems.
• Strong experience in designing electrical assemblies including wiring harnesses and panel boards.
• Knowledge of UL1741, NEC, UL891, UL840 standards and grid interconnection requirements.
• Experience with CAN, Modbus, Ethernet and serial communications networks.
• Hands-on testing and troubleshooting in a lab environment; travel ready.

Responsibilities

• Design electrical circuits, components, assemblies, and systems including modeling and packaging.
• Develop high power electrical systems with inverters and switchgear for grid-parallel or islanded operation.
• Create detailed supplier requirements for components and controllers.
• Lead design reviews, risk analysis, and cross-functional problem solving.
• Support production ramp and initial field installations; occasional field support.
• Perform sizing, power flow, grounding, fault current, and protection coordination analyses.
• Coordinate with mechanical, compliance, and quality teams to ensure certification.
• Document test plans and reports; ensure safety and quality compliance.
