Job description

Minimum qualifications:

  1. Master's degree in Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Economics, Operations Research, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  2. 10 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases, or statistical analysis, or 8 years of work experience with a PhD degree.

Preferred qualifications:

  1. 12 years of work experience using analytics to solve product or business problems, coding (e.g., Python, R, SQL), querying databases, or statistical analysis, or 10 years of work experience with a PhD degree.
  2. 6 years of experience as a people manager within a technical leadership role.

Role Description:

As a Search Vertical Data Science Lead, you will develop advanced statistical and analytical methods to identify growth opportunities, such as emerging user needs, user segmentation, and churn prediction. You will independently drive projects from start to finish, solve complex business problems, and communicate solutions effectively. By collaborating cross-functionally and influencing senior leadership, you will advocate for users and focus on sustainable, long-term growth. This role involves understanding various search products, from GenAI to UI optimization, and utilizing logs, surveys, and human-eval driven methods to design and validate solutions.

Compensation:

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $248,000-$349,000 plus bonus, equity, and benefits. Salary ranges are role, level, and location-dependent. Your recruiter will share specific details during hiring. Note that listed salaries reflect base pay only; bonuses, equity, and benefits are additional.

Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with stakeholders across projects to identify and clarify business or product questions. Provide feedback to translate these questions into analysis, metrics, or models.
  2. Design and evaluate models to mathematically express and solve defined problems using specialized knowledge and data infrastructure.
  3. Gather information on business goals, priorities, organizational context, and data infrastructure.
  4. Own data gathering, extraction, and validation processes using tools like SQL, R, Python to ensure data quality and readiness for analysis.
  5. Advocate for users, emphasizing long-term responsible growth and value.
