Job summary

Pandora, part of SiriusXM, seeks a Senior Staff Data Engineer to design and scale backend data products, reporting systems, and data onboarding across SXM Media services. You will own end-to-end data pipelines and collaborate with multiple teams to deliver insights at scale.

You will mentor junior engineers and work on high-impact analytics platforms while ensuring reliable production deployments and ownership of complex projects.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering experience in Python or Java.
• 7+ years designing and managing data pipelines with Spark, BigQuery, AWS EMR, and GCP.
• 7+ years building REST APIs and microservices on cloud platforms (AWS preferred).
• Experience with Snowflake and BigQuery for analytics.
• Proficient in observability tools: Prometheus, Grafana, ELK.
• Familiarity with data-pipeline frameworks (Monte Carlo/Great Expectations/Soda).
• Experience with Docker, Kubernetes; streaming with Kafka/Flink/Pub/Sub.
• Jira/Confluence for collaboration; Miro/Lucidchart for design.
• Strong SDLC, release management, and testing practices.
• Ability to lead projects independently; analytical and detail-oriented.
• Nice to have Redis/Memcached, API data contracts, security basics, AWS services, NoSQL knowledge, AI coding aids.
• Bachelor’s degree; must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance reporting APIs and data pipelines.
• Lead architecture discussions with ad measurement and revenue data.
• Collaborate with multiple engineering teams in a shared dev process.
• Partner with Product to clarify scope and requirements.
• Provide clear direction and ownership to drive projects forward.
• Coordinate with Global Operations and Cloud Infra for deployments and incidents.
• Mentor junior engineers.
