Job summary

SiriusXM is seeking a Senior Staff Data Engineer to join the AdsWizz data team. You will design, build, and own backend data products and reporting systems at scale, shaping data onboarding across SXM Media services.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable data pipelines, scalable APIs, and accurate insights for advertising and measurement. This role emphasizes ownership, mentorship, and delivering high-impact data solutions.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software engineering in Python or Java with modern practices.
• 7+ years designing, building, and managing data pipelines with Spark, BigQuery, AWS EMR and GCP Analytics.
• 7+ years crafting REST API based microservices across cloud platforms (ideally AWS).
• Experience with cloud data warehouses like Snowflake and BigQuery.
• Familiar with observability tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and ELK stack.
• Experience with data-pipeline frameworks (Monte Carlo, Great Expectations, Soda).
• Proficient with containers (Docker, Kubernetes) and messaging (Kafka, Flink, Pub/Sub).
• Proficient with Jira/Confluence; able to use Miro or Lucidchart for design.
• Strong software lifecycle, release management, and system verification experience.
• Ability to lead projects end-to-end with clear ownership and delivery.
• Nice-to-have caching (Redis) and API/data contract design skills.
• Nice-to-have security basics (OAuth2) and AWS services (S3, CloudTrail, SQS, SNS, Lambda, API Gateway, ElasticCache, Athena, Kinesis, EKS, Cognito).
• Nice-to-have NoSQL knowledge (Druid, DynamoDB, SingleStore) and AI coding tools.
• Educational background matching BS in CS/Math; U.S. work authorization required.

Responsibilities

• Design and build high-performance reporting APIs and data pipelines.
• Lead architecture discussions with ad measurement, revenue and addressability data.
• Collaborate with multiple engineering teams in a collaborative development process.
• Work with Product to clarify project scope and provide design feedback.
• Demonstrate ownership with clear direction to drive projects forward.
• Coordinate with Global Operations and Cloud Infrastructure for deployments.
• Mentor and guide junior engineers.
