Capital One is seeking a Senior Staff Data Engineer (Remote - Eligible) to define and advance data platforms in the cloud. You will lead the data engineering practice, shape a unified data architecture across lines of business, and mentor engineers while delivering scalable data solutions.

You will work with AWS, Lakehouse architectures, and real‑time data pipelines, writing Python/SQL/Java/Scala and influencing across teams to accelerate innovation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or a related quantitative field.
• At least 9 years of experience in data engineering.
• At least 5 years of experience in data architecture.
• At least 3 years of experience building applications in AWS.
• At least 7 years of experience programming in Python, Java, or Scala.
• At least 6 years of experience designing and developing data pipelines.
• At least 4 years of experience in data modeling and end‑to‑end data solutions.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical strategy for data pipelines and sharing capabilities for enterprise use.
• Mentor engineers, influence architectural standards and drive delivery acceleration.
• Drive data governance, architecture roadmaps and scalable data platforms.
• Communicate with stakeholders across the organization to align on data solutions.
• Develop and socialize data strategy artifacts and blueprints.
